Mission Statement

Toones Academic Music (TAM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It provides a high quality music-based educational program which promotes academic excellence and development of social skills for children between ages 5 to 9.
We believe in improving education theory and practices for children, and our research on improving children's learning is nationally recognized by the American Educational Research Association.

Based on our five years research study on education, we have developed an innovative curricula to teach children music, to discover and practice mathematics concept, and develop social skills through music and game play. By participating in fun and creative activities, children further develop skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and abilities to memorize and improvise. At TAM, children will gain knowledge in music history and theory, learn arts and craft, and receive one-on-one piano instructions.

Since the inception of TAM in 2005, we have served over 500 students in 6 school locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. We run small classes so students can receive ample individual attention to advance their learning in academic mathematics. Our research studies supported the findings that children enrolled in TAM showed significant improvement in the California Standard Test (CST) Math's score.
